The annual Help Kids Grow Up (HKGU) Charity Golf Tournament supports initiatives that help children in need within the Ottawa region and in the sub-Saharan region of Africa. The two charities that the tournament provides funds to are Variety of Ottawa and the Canadian Foundation for Children with Aids (CFCA). These two not-for-profit organizations decided in 2010 to join forces to establish a premier annual golf event that would bring together businesses from across Ottawa that are committed to help children in need.
Over the past 6 years the tournament has enjoyed considerable success is terms of sponsor support, funds raised for the charities (over $329,000), and establishing a tournament day experience that rivals the best tournaments in the region. Through the support of our Presenting sponsor GAL Power and many of their corporate partners the annual HKGU charity golf tournament is able to ensure a tremendous boost to the programs that Variety of Ottawa and CFCA delivers. Click below for short videos on the impact that the funds raised from previous tournaments have made in Ottawa and Africa for children with acute health needs. Note: The 2015 tournament raised a new record donation amount of over $80,000 for the charity programs.
The 2015 6th Annual HKGU Charity Golf Tournament participants (July 7, 2015 at the Eagle Creek Golf Club) were treated to breakfast, lunch, hospitality hour with complimentary finger foods and draft beer, dinner buffet with complimentary wine, tournament towel, custom divot tool, GAL Power Golf Cap, award packages for the 9 on-course events, and dozens of draw prizes. The tournament featured silent and live auctions to help increase the funds raised by the event for the two charities. 148 golfers attended this sold out event!
The tournament generated over $67,000 in net proceeds that were distributed to Variety of Ottawa and the Canadian Foundation for Children with Aids. Over $329,000 has been raised for the Charities in the last 6 years, through the generous support of our sponsors and tournament participants. Over $279,000 (80% of donations) went directly into new children care programs in Ottawa and in Africa.
